A life shaped by His authority
Jesus calls His disciples to deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him. He is not one influence among many competing for the right to direct our lives. His authority reaches our private choices as well as our public worship.
Abiding in Him means depending on Him, receiving His words, praying, and bearing the fruit of love. This dependence is active. We listen so that we can obey, and we ask for help where obedience is difficult.
Learn with His people
The earliest believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. Christian growth is personal, but it is not intended to be isolated. Seek a local church that teaches Scripture faithfully and helps people follow Jesus with care and accountability.
Talk with a pastor about baptism, worship, service, and the questions you carry. Start with ordinary faithfulness: tell the truth, seek reconciliation where appropriate, care for someone in need, and return to the Word when you fail.
