Trust the One who saves
Romans 10 brings together confessing Jesus as Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead. In Acts 16, the jailer is directed to believe in the Lord Jesus, and the word of the Lord is then spoken to his household. Faith has a person and a message as its foundation.
You do not need to pretend that you have no questions or wait until you can produce a flawless record. Bring your sin and your need to Christ. Turn from what He calls sin and entrust yourself to His mercy.
A prayer can express trust
You can speak plainly to God: confess your sin, thank Him for Jesus’ death and resurrection, ask for forgiveness, and ask for help to follow. The wording of a prayer has no power to save you. Jesus does.
Tell a trustworthy Christian what you are asking and believing. Read the Gospels together, connect with a local church, and discuss baptism. When questions of assurance arise, return to Christ’s promises and seek patient pastoral care rather than judging your standing by the intensity of one moment.
