Shame can follow our own sin or the wrong done to us. Scripture helps us tell the difference. Where we have sinned, Christ calls us to confess and turn to Him. Where we have been harmed, we can seek care without accepting another person’s guilt as our own.

A prayer to carry

Lord Jesus, I cannot save myself or hold my life together by pretending. I trust Your death and resurrection. Forgive my sin, teach me to turn from it, and help me bring my suffering honestly before You. By Your Spirit, make me willing to obey Your Word and receive the care I need. Amen.

Take one faithful step.

Tell God the truth about one thing you have hidden. Receive the invitation to seek mercy in Christ, and speak with a trustworthy person who can offer wise care.
