Ephesians 4:22–24

22 that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit,
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.
Put off the former self, be renewed in mind, and put on the new self created in God's likeness.

Ephesians calls believers to put off the old life and live as people made new in Christ. Salvation is His gift; repentance and Spirit-enabled obedience belong to the life He gives.
Forgiven in Christ. Called to forgive.
Ephesians calls believers to put away malice because God has forgiven them in Christ. Past harm deserves care; it does not give us permission to repay another person with sin.
